Steve Fritz is an American retired decathlete born on November 1, 1967, in Salina, Kansas. He played basketball and competed in track and field for Kansas State University, setting the school record in the decathlon.

Fritz was an All-American and Big 12 champion decathlete in 1989 and 1990. He represented the United States on ten national teams for the decathlon, including winning gold at the 1991 Summer Universiade in Sheffield, England. His greatest achievement came with a fourth-place finish at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He was inducted into the K-State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.

After his competitive career, Fritz served as an assistant coach for the Kansas State track and field team for 21 years. He continues to coach at Wamego High School, where he serves as both track coach and assistant basketball coach, combining his experience in both sports.
