Justin Rodhe

Justin Rodhe is an American-born Canadian shot putter born on October 17, 1984, in Bainbridge, Ohio. He moved to Canada in 2008 and became a Canadian citizen on November 1, 2011.

Rodhe's citizenship change initially created complications for his international eligibility. IAAF rules required a two-year citizenship period before representing a new country internationally, which would have made him ineligible until 2013. However, Athletics Canada successfully appealed, allowing him to compete at the 2012 London Olympics.

At the Olympics, Rodhe competed in the shot put event for Canada, though he registered three foot fouls and did not record a valid throw. His journey from American athlete to Canadian Olympian demonstrated both his dedication to the sport and the complexities of changing national allegiance in international athletics.
