Stephen Smith

Steve Smith is an American former high jumper born on January 11, 1971. He competed for Indiana State University, where he became a four-time NCAA All-American and still holds the school's indoor and outdoor high jump records at 2.25 metres and 2.31 metres respectively.

Smith finished second at the NCAA Championships three times and won the 1994 NCAA Outdoor Championship, earning meet MVP honors. He won gold at the 1999 Millrose Games, silver at the 1995 Pan American Games, and placed seventh at the 1995 World Indoor Championships. He was ranked third in the United States in 1994.

A three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection who won two outdoor conference championships, Smith earned Indiana State's Hillman Outstanding Senior Athlete Award in 1994. He is currently a student advisor at the University of Indianapolis, continuing his involvement in athletics education.
