Renaud Lavillenie is a French pole vaulter and one of the most successful athletes in the history of his event. He won the Olympic gold medal at the 2012 London Games and added a silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He holds the French national records both outdoors (6.05 m) and indoors (6.16 m), with the indoor mark standing as the absolute world record for over six years from 2014 to 2020.

Lavillenie has amassed an extraordinary medal collection, including three World Indoor Championships golds, three European Championships golds, and four European Indoor Championships golds. He has also won one silver and four bronze medals at the World Championships. He dominated the IAAF Diamond League pole vault standings for seven consecutive years from 2010 to 2016.

Outside of pole vaulting, Lavillenie is a keen motorcyclist who competed in the Le Mans 24 Hours for motorcycles in 2013, finishing 25th. His younger brother Valentin Lavillenie is also a pole vaulter.
