Chrysopigi Devetzi
Hrysopiyi "Piyi" Devetzi, born 2 January 1976 in Alexandroupolis, is a retired Greek triple jumper and long jumper who was one of the world's leading female triple jumpers of the 2000s. Despite being a consistent medal contender, she was notably denied gold at every major championship she entered.
Devetzi won the triple jump silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics with 15.25 metres and the bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics with 15.23 metres. During the 2004 Olympic qualification round, she set a Greek record of 15.32 metres, a mark that placed her fourth on the all-time list. She also earned silver at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, losing gold on the final jump to Tatyana Lebedeva, and experienced a similar last-round defeat at the 2008 World Indoor Championships to Yargelis Savigne.
Her sustained excellence was recognised in Greece, where she was named Greek Female Athlete of the Year four consecutive times from 2005 to 2008.
