Derartu Tulu is a Ethiopia long-distance runner, born on March 21, 1972 in Bekoji, Ethiopia. Standing 1.60 m and weighing 45 kg, She competes primarily in the 3000m, 5000m and 10000m.

Her personal bests include 8:46.32 in the 3000m, 14:44.22 in the 5000m, 30:17.49 in the 10000m, 1:07:03 in the Semi and 2:23:30 in the Marathon. She has earned 18 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals in major international competitions. She is currently active on the international athletics circuit, representing Ethiopia.
