Brimin Kiprop Kipruto

Brimin Kiprop Kipruto is a Kenyan steeplechase specialist born on 31 July 1985 in Korkitony, Keiyo District.

He holds a personal best of 7:53.64 minutes in the 3000 metres steeplechase, the second fastest time ever run and the African record, falling just one hundredth of a second short of the world record. Kipruto burst onto the world scene at just nineteen years old, winning a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics.

He then claimed World Championship bronze in 2005 before capturing his first global title at the 2007 World Championships. His greatest triumph came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he won the gold medal, establishing himself as one of the finest steeplechasers in history.
