Aki Parviainen is a retired Finnish javelin thrower who achieved his greatest success at the World Championships. He won the gold medal at the 1999 World Championships and followed it with a silver medal at the 2001 edition, establishing himself among the elite throwers of his era.

Parviainen's personal best of 93.09 m, set in 1999, stands as the Finnish national record and ranks him fourth on the all-time list. His best Olympic result was a fifth-place finish at the 2000 Sydney Games.

Parviainen announced his retirement in the spring of 2006 due to injuries, bringing to a close a career defined by exceptional peak performances on the biggest stages.
