Troy Doris is a triple jumper born on January 15, 1989, in Chicago, Illinois, to Guyanese parents. Standing 172 cm and weighing 74 kg, he competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics representing Guyana and won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Doris graduated from Bolingbrook High School in Illinois before becoming a two-time junior college national champion at the College of DuPage. He then transferred to the University of Iowa. Before choosing to represent Guyana, he finished eighth at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, he finished seventh with a mark of 16.90 meters and served as Guyana's flag bearer at the closing ceremony.
