
Mike Buncic
Michael Buncic is an American discus thrower born in Paterson, New Jersey, to Yugoslavian parents. Standing 193 cm tall and weighing 115 kg, he is a two-time Olympian and former NCAA record holder in the men's discus.
Buncic competed at the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics and three World Championships in Tokyo 1991, Stuttgart 1993, and Goteborg 1995. He was a four-time Olympic and World Championship finalist. In 1991, he had the world's longest throw of the season at 227 feet 7 inches. He won the 1995 U.S. National Championship after finishing runner-up six times.
At the University of Kentucky, he was a multiple SEC champion and All-American in both shot put and discus. He holds a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from San Jose State and currently teaches human physiology at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California.
