Yuriy Sergiyenko

Yuriy Sergiyenko is a Ukrainian former high jumper born on March 19, 1965, in Starobilsk. Standing 190 cm and weighing 73 kg, he competed internationally for the Soviet Union, the Unified Team, and finally Ukraine.

Sergiyenko was European Junior champion in 1983 and won bronze at the 1991 Summer Universiade. After representing the Unified Team at the 1992 Olympics, he won gold at the 1992 IAAF World Cup. His final international appearance was at the 1993 World Indoor Championships.

His personal best of 2.34 metres was set indoors in 1985 and equalled in 1993. He was the first man to win the Ukrainian national high jump title after the country's independence, claiming the title twice.
