Patrik Sjöberg

Patrik Sjoberg is a Swedish former high jumper born on 5 January 1965 in Gothenburg.

He broke the world record with a clearance of 2.42 metres in Stockholm on 30 June 1987, a mark that still stands as the European record and ranks him third on the all-time world list behind Javier Sotomayor and Mutaz Essa Barshim.

Sjoberg was the 1987 World Champion and a three-time Olympic medallist, making him one of the most decorated high jumpers in history. He also held the world indoor record twice, clearing 2.38 metres in 1985 and 2.41 metres in 1987, further demonstrating his remarkable consistency at the highest level of competition.
