Jeremy Fischer

Jeremy Fischer, born Hosaing Park on February 16, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea, is an American high jumper and coach. Standing 175 cm, he achieved a remarkable clearance of 2.29 metres in 2000, which tied for the 14th greatest high jump differential in history.

Fischer was born to a Korean mother and an African-American serviceman. He was sent to the United States for adoption rather than face the prejudice of being a mixed-race child in Korea. Despite his relatively short stature for a high jumper, he developed exceptional technique to clear heights far above his own body height.

Fischer has successfully transitioned into coaching, serving as personal coach to Will Claye. Under his guidance, Claye became the first person since 1936 to win Olympic medals in two jumping events at the same Games. Fischer's own athletic experience and understanding of jumping mechanics have contributed to his success as a coach.
