Hailemariyam Amare

Hailemariyam Amare Tegegn is an Ethiopian steeplechase and distance runner born on February 22, 1997. He specializes in the 3000 metres steeplechase and 5000 metres, representing one of the world's dominant distance running nations.

Hailemariyam placed 5th at the 2014 World Junior Championships and finished 12th in the final at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. He won bronze at the 2015 African Games and competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In 2022, he won both the 3000m steeplechase and 5000m at the African Championships and reached the World Championships final, finishing 10th. His personal best of 8:06.29 was set in Rabat in 2022.

As a double African champion and World Championships finalist, Hailemariyam has established himself among Ethiopia's elite steeplechasers. His consistency at major championships and continental dominance reflect his standing in this demanding event.
