Robert Gary is a retired American steeplechaser born on April 5, 1973. He competed in the 3000 metre steeplechase at two Olympic Games, representing the United States in 1996 and 2004.
Gary's Olympic career spanned eight years, demonstrating remarkable longevity in one of track and field's most demanding events. The steeplechase requires athletes to combine distance running endurance with the technical ability to clear barriers and water jumps throughout the race.
His two Olympic selections establish him among America's most consistent steeplechasers of his generation. Competing at both the 1996 Atlanta Games and the 2004 Athens Games required sustained excellence over an extended career in this specialized event.
