Data & methodology
Elite Trackr currently holds 884,937 athletes and 18,493,240 performances from 232 countries. This page explains where that data comes from and where it falls short.
Sources
Results and athlete profiles are built from World Athletics, the sport's governing body. NCAA collegiate lists come from TFRRS. Historical Olympic results come from Olympedia, and world record progressions come from Wikipedia.
Athlete photos come from Wikimedia Commons, found via Wikidata, and are shown with their licence and photographer credit.
Refresh cadence
A daily sync runs at 06:00 UTC. It pulls new competitions and results, adds newly seen athletes, and regenerates the sitemaps.
All-time lists are not live — they are recomputed on their own schedule. Each list shows the date it was last computed, its as-of date, rather than claiming to be current to the minute.
Units and conventions
Times are stored to the hundredth of a second, distances to the centimetre. A mark recorded by hand rather than fully automatic timing is flagged with a trailing h, as in 10.4h.
The wind limit for sprints and horizontal jumps is +2.0 m/s. Wind-aided marks are shown on the site but are never counted toward a record.
Indoor and outdoor lists are kept apart, since they're different competitive conditions rather than one ranking. An athlete's all-time rank is their position in Elite Trackr's own list — not the World Athletics World Rankings, which is a separate, points-based system this site does not hold.
Known limits
Some athlete profiles on the site are partial: created from competition results alone, because World Athletics doesn't return a full profile for that athlete. They fill in as more data becomes available.
A historical import duplicated roughly 9% of championship results. That inflates any count of races run, which is why the site never shows one.
The records table has gaps: walks, steeplechase and relay progressions aren't in it yet. Area records depend on flags set by World Athletics, so they can lag behind reality where those flags are incomplete.
