Joshua Cheptegei

Joshua Cheptegei, born on 12 September 1996, is a Ugandan long-distance runner who holds the world records for both the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. He also once held the world best time over 15 kilometres.

Cheptegei is the reigning Olympic champion in the 10,000 m, having won gold at the 2024 Paris Games while setting a new Olympic record. He is a three-time World champion in the 10,000 m and also claimed gold in both the 5000 m and 10,000 m at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 World Cross Country Championships.

He is the tenth man in history to hold the 5000 m and 10,000 m world records concurrently, having set both marks in 2020.
