
Sabastian Kimaru Sawe
Sabastian Kimaru Sawe is a Kenyan long-distance runner born on 16 March 1996 who has emerged as one of the top marathon and road runners in the world. In September 2022, he set a Kenyan national record in the one-hour run at the Memorial Van Damme with a distance of 21,250 metres, narrowly missing the world record.
Sawe has built an impressive resume on the roads, winning the Rome-Ostia Half Marathon in March 2022 with a course record of 58:02, the Bahrain Royal Night Half Marathon in 58:58, the Montferland Run 15K in 42:35, and the Copenhagen Half Marathon in a personal best of 58:05. He also finished seventh in the senior men's race at the 2023 World Cross Country Championships.
On the marathon stage, Sawe won the 2024 Valencia Marathon in a world-leading time of 2:02:05, followed by victories at the 2025 London Marathon in 2:02:27 and the 2025 Berlin Marathon in 2:02:16, firmly establishing himself among the elite marathoners.
