Data & methodology
Elite Trackr currently holds 898,795 athletes and 17,197,231 performances from 240 countries. This page explains where that data comes from and where it falls short.
Sources
Results and athlete profiles come from official competition results published worldwide: national championships, the Diamond League and global championships. NCAA collegiate lists come from published collegiate meet results. Historical Olympic results and world record progressions come from published archives.
Athlete photos come from Wikimedia Commons and are shown with their licence and photographer credit.
Refresh cadence
The data is updated every day with new competitions and results.
All-time lists are refreshed periodically. Each one shows the date of its last update.
Units and conventions
Times are stored to the hundredth of a second, distances to the centimetre. A mark recorded by hand rather than fully automatic timing is flagged with a trailing h, as in 10.4h.
The wind limit for sprints and horizontal jumps is +2.0 m/s. Wind-aided marks are shown on the site but are never counted toward a record.
Indoor and outdoor lists are kept apart because the conditions differ. An athlete's all-time rank is their position in Elite Trackr's own list. It is not the official points-based World Ranking, a separate system this site doesn't hold.
Known limits
Some athlete profiles are partial. They fill in as more data becomes available.
Some historical results may appear more than once, which is why the site never shows a count of races run.
The records table has gaps: walks, steeplechase and relay progressions aren't in it yet, and area records can lag behind reality.
