Nicholas Kemboi

Nicholas Kemboi is a long-distance runner born on 25 November 1983 in Kericho, Kenya, who competes for Qatar.

Originally Kenyan-born, he switched his national affiliation to Qatar while keeping his birth name, unlike many athletes who made similar transfers to Middle Eastern countries. Kemboi is among the fastest 10,000 metres runners of all time, with a personal best of 26:30.03 set in 2003 at just twenty years old, ranking him fifth on the all-time list.

He earned a silver medal at the 2009 Asian Athletics Championships in the event. In 2011, he moved up to the marathon distance, running a best of 2:08:01 at the Valencia Marathon, and claimed his first marathon victory at the 2013 Prague Marathon in 2:08:51.
