
Marileidy Paulino
Marileidy Paulino is a Dominican sprinter, born on October 25, 1996, in Nizao, Dominican Republic. She specializes in the 400 metres and has been ranked world No. 1 in the event since May 2023. Paulino became only the third person from the Dominican Republic to win an Olympic gold medal when she claimed the 400 metres title at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Paulino won silver in the 400 metres, becoming the first Dominican woman to earn an individual Olympic medal in athletics. She also took silver in the mixed 4x400 metres relay. At the 2022 World Athletics Championships, she earned silver in the 400 metres and gold in the mixed relay. Her other titles include the 2022 Diamond League 400 metres championship, gold at the 2022 Ibero-American Championships, and gold at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Paulino holds Dominican Republic records in the indoor 60 metres, the 200 metres both indoors and outdoors, and the 400 metres.
