Greg Foster was an American hurdler born on August 4, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on February 19, 2023. Standing 190 cm and weighing 84 kg, he became the first person in history to win three consecutive World Championship titles in the 110 metres hurdles, claiming gold in 1983, 1987, and 1991.

Foster's achievements included the 1981 IAAF World Cup title, the 1991 World Indoor championship, and ten U.S. national titles. He broke world indoor records in the 50-metre hurdles in 1985 and the 60-metre hurdles in 1987. His personal best of 13.03 seconds made him the second-fastest hurdler of all time at that point, behind only Renaldo Nehemiah. He was ranked among the world's top ten hurdlers for 15 of 16 years from 1977 to 1992, reaching number one five times.

Foster retired in 1996 and was inducted into the USATF Hall of Fame in 1998. His career was briefly interrupted by a six-month suspension in 1990 after testing positive for ephedrine contained in his asthma medication. His unprecedented three consecutive World Championship gold medals remain a defining achievement in hurdles history.
