
Evan Jager
Evan Jager is an American steeplechaser born on March 8, 1989, in Algonquin, Illinois. Standing 188 cm and weighing 66 kg, he won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze at the 2017 World Championships, while setting the NACAC area record of 8:00.45.
After one year at the University of Wisconsin, Jager turned professional and relocated to Portland to train with Jerry Schumacher's Bowerman Track Club. In his first year competing in the steeplechase in 2012, he won the U.S. Olympic Trials, broke the American record, and finished sixth at the London Olympics.
After fifth and sixth-place finishes at the 2013 and 2015 World Championships, Jager broke through with his Olympic silver in Rio and World Championship bronze in 2017. Despite injury struggles from 2018 to 2021, he returned to finish sixth at the 2022 World Championships. He is sponsored by Nike.
