Carlo Thranhardt is a retired German high jumper, born on 5 July 1957. Standing 199 cm tall and weighing 86 kg, he was particularly renowned for his excellence in indoor competition, where he set the world indoor record on three separate occasions between 1984 and 1988.

Thranhardt's best indoor mark of 2.42 metres ranks him second on the all-time indoor list, just one centimetre behind world record holder Javier Sotomayor of Cuba. He was notably only the second man in history to clear 2.40 metres or higher while jumping off his right leg, following Igor Paklin. At the European Indoor Championships, he won gold in 1983 and earned four silver medals in 1981, 1984, 1986, and 1987.

Outdoors, Thranhardt's best championship result was a bronze medal at the 1986 European Championships. He also competed in two Olympic finals, in 1984 and 1988. Using the Fosbury Flop technique like all modern high jumpers, his combination of indoor dominance and consistent outdoor performance established him as one of Germany's finest ever high jumpers.
