Elaine Thompson-Herah, born 28 June 1992 in Manchester Parish, Jamaica, is a sprinter who competes in the 60 metres, 100 metres, and 200 metres. Regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, she is a five-time Olympic champion and a six-time Olympic medallist. She is the fastest woman alive in the 100 metres and the third fastest ever in the 200 metres.

Thompson-Herah is the first female sprinter, and the second sprinter after Usain Bolt, to win the sprint double at consecutive Olympics, capturing 100-metre and 200-metre gold at both the 2016 Rio and 2020 Tokyo Games. At Tokyo, she set a new Olympic record of 10.61 seconds in the 100 metres and a national record of 21.53 seconds in the 200 metres, before completing the sprinting triple with gold in the 4x100-metre relay. She later lowered her 100-metre personal best to 10.54 seconds at the 2021 Prefontaine Classic, becoming the first woman to break the 40 km/h barrier.

Her remarkable comeback from an Achilles tendon injury that hampered her at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships made her Tokyo performance all the more impressive. She was voted Laureus Sportswoman of the Year and World Athletics World Female Athlete of the Year for 2021. She is also the 2019 Pan American Games 100-metre champion and a three-time Diamond League winner.
