Lydia Jele

Lydia Casey Jele is a Botswana sprinter born on June 22, 1990, in Gaborone. Standing 172 cm tall, she competes primarily in the 400 metres and has represented her country at both the World Championships and Olympic Games.

Jele participated in the relay at the 2013 World Championships and competed in the 400 metres at the 2016 Summer Olympics after winning the Botswana Athletics Association Championships to secure her qualification. Her personal bests include 11.51 seconds in the 100 metres, 24.55 seconds in the 200 metres, and 52.65 seconds in the 400 metres.

As an experienced international competitor, Jele has been an important figure in Botswana women's sprinting. Her Olympic and World Championships appearances have paved the way for the next generation of female sprinters from her country on the global stage.
