Timothy Cheruiyot is a Kenyan middle-distance runner born on November 20, 1995, in Bomet. He specializes in the 1500 metres and ranks as the 11th fastest athlete of all time over the distance, establishing himself as one of the dominant milers of his generation.
Cheruiyot won the Olympic silver medal in the 1500m at the 2020 Tokyo Games. At the World Athletics Championships, he captured silver in 2017 in London and gold in 2019 in Doha. He also won silver medals at the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games and claimed two African Championship silver medals in 2016 and 2018. He dominated the Diamond League circuit, winning the 1500m title four times in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021.
