Shawn Crawford is a retired American sprinter born on January 14, 1978, in Van Wyck, South Carolina. Standing 181 cm tall and weighing 75 kg, he specialized in the 100 and 200 meters, winning Olympic gold in the 200 meters at the 2004 Athens Games.

Crawford's Olympic career featured notable success and unusual circumstances. Beyond his 2004 gold medal, he originally finished fourth in the 200 meters at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. However, after the second and third-place finishers were disqualified, Crawford was elevated to the silver medal position, giving him two Olympic medals in the event. His ability to compete at the highest level across two Olympic cycles demonstrated his consistency.

Crawford's career concluded following the 2012 United States Olympic Trials. In April 2013, he received a two-year suspension for missing out-of-competition drug tests, though his coach Bob Kersee stated that Crawford had already retired after the 2012 Trials. USA Track and Field confirmed he filed retirement papers in 2013.
