Dave Stephens

David Stephens is a retired American javelin thrower born on February 8, 1962. Standing 190 cm and weighing 104 kg, he represented the United States at two Summer Olympics, competing in 1988 and 1996.

Stephens set his personal best of 83.88 metres with the old javelin specification on May 3, 1991, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1987, where he developed the technique that would carry him to two Olympic appearances.

His Olympic experience spanning eight years demonstrated remarkable longevity at the elite level. Qualifying for two Olympic teams in the javelin, one of track and field's most technically demanding events, reflects Stephens's dedication to the sport throughout his career.
