
Bernard Williams
Bernard Williams is an American former sprinter born on January 19, 1978, in Baltimore, Maryland. Standing 183 cm and weighing 81 kg, he won Olympic gold in the 4x100m relay in 2000 and silver in the 200m in 2004, along with 100m silver at the 2001 World Championships.
Williams broke the 10-second barrier with a personal best of 9.94 seconds in the 100m and led the world in the 200m in 2003 with a best of 20.01 seconds. He won relay gold at the 2003 World Championships and 100m gold at the 1999 Pan American Games. At Florida, he was NCAA Outdoor champion in the 100m and 4x100m relay in 2000.
He won the U.S. national 100m title in 2001 and 2003, establishing himself as one of America's premier sprinters. Williams's combination of sub-10 speed and 200m prowess made him a versatile threat in short sprint events throughout the early 2000s.
