
Andrew Valmon
Andrew Valmon is an American former 400-metre runner born on January 1, 1965, in Toms River, New Jersey. Standing 185 cm and weighing 78 kg, he is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Championships medalist. Valmon was raised in Manchester Township, New Jersey and attended Seton Hall University, graduating in 1987 with a communications degree.
Valmon won silver at the 1991 World Indoor Championships in Seville and gold with the American 4x400 metre relay team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. That same year, he set his personal best of 44.28 seconds in the 400 metres.
He is currently the head track and field coach at the University of Maryland, College Park, and runs a summer camp at the university. Valmon is married to Meredith Rainey, also an Olympic runner, and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. His coaching career continues his involvement in American track and field.
