Sheldon Blockburger is a retired American decathlete born on September 19, 1964, who competed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He set a world record in the indoor pentathlon with 4451 points in 1987.

Blockburger's personal best of 8301 points came at the 1990 US National Championships. He won the SEC Decathlon Championship in 1986, setting the conference record, and was the first American to break 8000 points at the prestigious Gotzis meeting. He won bronze at the 1991 Pan American Games and became the first American champion in the indoor heptathlon in 1995.

After retiring, Blockburger became a successful coach at Cal Poly, Arizona, and USC, producing 11 NCAA champions including Olympic silver medalist Brigetta Barrett. He currently works as a physical education teacher and track coach.
