Reese Hoffa

Reese Hoffa is an American shot putter born on October 8, 1977, in Evans, Georgia. Standing 182 cm and weighing 147 kg, he won the 2006 World Indoor and 2007 World Outdoor Championships, plus an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 London Games.

Hoffa's personal bests of 22.11 metres indoors and 22.43 metres outdoors rank him among the greatest American shot putters. In 2012, he threw over 21 metres in competition for the 100th time, a remarkable feat of consistency at the elite level. He was adopted at the age of four.

His combination of two World Championship gold medals and an Olympic bronze medal establishes Hoffa among the premier shot putters of his generation. His power and consistency over more than a decade of competition made him a dominant force in American throwing.
