Michael Obasuyi

Michael Obasuyi is a Belgian hurdler born on August 12, 1999, in Bruges. He was born to a Nigerian father and Belgian mother, both of whom sprinted in their youth, giving him a strong athletic heritage.

Obasuyi has competed at both the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics, demonstrating his consistency at the highest level of the sport. In November 2024, he publicly shared his lifelong struggle with autism in an interview with De Standaard newspaper, bringing attention to the challenges athletes can face while competing at elite levels.

As a two-time Olympian who has openly discussed his autism, Obasuyi serves as both an elite athlete and an advocate for neurodiversity in sport. His willingness to share his experiences helps raise awareness while inspiring others facing similar challenges.
