Marco Arop is a Canadian middle-distance runner born on 20 September 1998 who became the first Canadian to win a world championship in the 800 metres. He claimed the gold medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships after earning bronze the previous year in 2022.

Arop represented Canada at both the 2020 and 2024 Summer Olympics. At the 2024 Paris Games, he ran a personal best of 1:41.20 to win the silver medal, a time that places him as the fourth fastest 800m runner in history behind Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Wilson Kipketer, and world record holder David Rudisha. He also won gold at the 2019 Pan American Games.

Arop holds both the Canadian and North, Central American and Caribbean records over 800 metres, as well as the North American record in the 1000m with a time of 2:13.13.
