Manteo Mitchell is an American sprinter and bobsledder born on July 6, 1987, in Shelby, North Carolina. Standing 185 cm and weighing 79 kg, he competed in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400 metre relay during his track career.

Mitchell won gold in the 4x400 metre relay at the 2012 World Indoor Championships and demonstrated extraordinary courage at the 2012 London Olympics. During the 4x400m relay qualifying heat, he completed his leg despite breaking his fibula mid-race, helping his team qualify. The U.S. team went on to win silver in the final, and Mitchell received a medal for his contribution in the heats.

Following his track career, Mitchell transitioned to bobsled in 2021, seeking new competitive challenges. His perseverance in finishing an Olympic relay leg on a broken leg has become one of the most remarkable displays of determination in Olympic history.
