
Karsten Warholm
Karsten Warholm, born on 28 February 1996 in Ulsteinvik, Norway, is a Norwegian sprinter and hurdler who competes in the 400 metres hurdles. He is the world record holder in the event, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion, and a silver medallist at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Warholm is a three-time World Championships gold medallist (2017, 2019, and 2023) and has won European titles in 2018, 2022, and 2024. Warholm is the first athlete ever to win three 400 m hurdles events at the World Championships and is a three-time Diamond League champion in the event.
In 2021, he was voted World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year. That same year, he broke the 29-year-old world record in the 400 m hurdles and then shattered his own mark at the Tokyo Olympics with a time of 45.94 seconds, improving his record by over three-quarters of a second.
