
Jeremy Wariner
Jeremy Wariner is an American retired sprinter born on January 31, 1984, in Irving, Texas. Standing 183 cm and weighing 70 kg, he has won four Olympic medals and six World Championship medals, with a personal best of 43.45 seconds making him joint sixth fastest in 400-metre history.
Wariner burst onto the scene at the 2004 Athens Olympics, winning gold in both the 400m and 4x400m relay. He repeated as World Champion in both events in 2005 and 2007, won the 2006 Golden League jackpot by going undefeated, and earned the 2007 ESPY Award for Best Male Track Athlete. A successful collegiate athlete at Baylor University, he established himself as the dominant quarter-miler of the mid-2000s.
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Wariner won relay gold but took 400m silver behind LaShawn Merritt, a result repeated at the 2009 World Championships. His rivalry with Merritt marked a golden era for American quarter-miling.
