Yulimar Rojas
Yulimar Rojas, born on 21 October 1995 in Caracas, Venezuela, is a Venezuelan triple jumper who holds the world record at 15.74 m. Nicknamed "the queen of the triple jump," she is the 2020 Olympic champion, a four-time World Champion (2017, 2019, 2022, and 2023), and a three-time World Indoor Champion (2016, 2018, and 2022). She has held the Venezuelan national records in both the triple jump and long jump since 2014.
Raised in a disadvantaged area of Venezuela, Rojas was a talented multi-sport athlete as a teenager but struggled with limited resources. After being encouraged to pursue athletics, she excelled in high jump and sprinting before finding her calling in the triple jump. In 2015, she moved to Guadalajara, Spain, to train under coach Ivan Pedroso and quickly became the dominant force in the event.
Rojas is a recipient of the Venezuelan Order of Jose Felix Ribas, First Class. After years of specialising solely in the triple jump, she returned to serious long jump competition in 2021.
