Samuel Jefferson was an American sprinter born on April 19, 1971, in Waco, Texas, who passed away on January 20, 2001. He was a track and field athlete at the University of Houston and won gold at international relay competitions.

Jefferson claimed the 100 and 200 metre sprint double at the 1993 Southwest Conference Championships and won the outdoor 100 metres at the 1994 NCAA Division I Championships. At the 1993 University Games in Buffalo, he won silver in the 100 metres behind Daniel Effiong and gold in the 4x100 metres relay.

He also won gold in the relay at the 1994 Goodwill Games. Jefferson died in his hometown of Waco in 2001 of an undisclosed illness. His NCAA championship and international relay success marked him as one of America's top sprinters of the early 1990s.
