Filippo Tortu is an Italian sprinter born on June 15, 1998, in Milan. Standing 187 cm tall and weighing 75 kg, he made history as the first Italian to break the 10-second barrier in the 100 metres and is currently the second fastest Italian in the event behind Marcell Jacobs.

Tortu achieved his greatest success at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he ran the anchor leg for the Italian 4x100 metres relay team that won the gold medal. His anchor leg was recorded as the fifth fastest of all time in Olympic relay history.

He is coached by his father, Salvino Tortu, a former Sardinian sprinter. As a member of Italy's golden generation of sprinters, Tortu has contributed to the country's remarkable rise in world sprinting. His ability to perform at the highest level on the biggest stage, combined with his sub-10-second capability, makes him one of Italy's most important sprint athletes.
