Melvin Lister

Mel Lister is an American horizontal jumper born on August 29, 1977, in New York City. Standing 188 cm and weighing 75 kg, he competed in both the long jump and triple jump at the highest international levels. Lister developed his talents at the University of Arkansas, a powerhouse in collegiate track and field.

Lister achieved notable results throughout his career, including fifth place in the long jump at the 2001 World Indoor Championships. He competed at both the 2000 Sydney Olympics and 2004 Athens Olympics, though he did not reach the finals in either Games. His versatility was evident in his 200 metre time of 20.51 seconds.

His personal bests demonstrate his world-class ability in both horizontal jumps. In the long jump, he achieved 8.49 metres in May 2000 in Baton Rouge, while his triple jump best of 17.78 metres came in July 2004 in Sacramento at the Olympic Trials. Lister's dual-event prowess made him one of America's most versatile jumpers of his era.
