Jud Logan

Jud Logan was an American hammer thrower born on July 19, 1959, in Canton, Ohio, who passed away on January 3, 2022. Standing 193 cm and weighing 123 kg, he was one of America's most accomplished athletes in the event, competing at four Summer Olympics beginning in 1984.

Logan won a gold medal in the hammer throw at the 1987 Pan American Games in Indianapolis, marking the highlight of his international career. His best Olympic finish was 13th in the qualifying round at the 1984 Los Angeles Games. His career was marred by controversy when he failed a doping test at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and received a two-year suspension.

Despite the doping violation, Logan's athletic journey spanned nearly a decade of Olympic-level competition. He was associated with Kent State Golden Flashes, where he contributed to the athletics program. His Pan American Games gold medal remains a notable achievement in American hammer throwing history.
