Hassan Mead is a Somali-American long-distance runner born on June 28, 1989. Standing 188 cm, he was a cross country and track athlete for the University of Minnesota, graduating from Minneapolis South High School in 2007.

Mead was an eight-time All-American in his Minnesota career, earning four selections in cross country and five in track. He won nine Big Ten Conference championships, including sweeping all distance events in both the 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons. His collegiate achievements established him as one of the most decorated distance runners in Big Ten history.

After his collegiate career, Mead joined the Oregon Track Club in Eugene, Oregon, where he continued to compete at the professional level. His journey from Somalia to becoming one of America's premier distance runners exemplifies the diverse backgrounds that enrich American track and field.
