Eugene Swift

Eugene Swift is an American retired hurdler born on September 14, 1964, in Oakland, California. Standing 183 cm and weighing 79 kg, he specialized in the 110 metres hurdles and achieved significant success in the late 1990s despite being well into his thirties.

Swift finished sixth at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and won the bronze medal in the 110 metres hurdles at the 1999 Pan American Games, where he also finished fourth in the 4x100 metres relay. His personal best of 13.21 seconds was achieved three times, demonstrating exceptional consistency.

Indoors, Swift ran 7.67 seconds in the 60 metre hurdles in 1998. His Olympic appearance at age 31 and Pan American medal at 34 showcased remarkable longevity in a sprint event that typically favors younger athletes. His career demonstrated that elite-level hurdling could continue well beyond conventional peak years.
