Anna Chicherova
Anna Chicherova, born 22 July 1982 in Belaya Kalitva, Russia, is a Russian-Armenian high jumper whose career mixed major triumphs with doping controversy. She won Olympic gold at the 2012 London Games and the World Championship title in 2011, while also earning World Championship silver medals in 2007 and 2013 and a bronze in 2015.
Her career was tarnished when a retest of her 2008 Olympic sample revealed the presence of turinabol. In October 2016, the IOC stripped her of the bronze medal she had originally been awarded at the 2008 Beijing Games, and a World Championship silver medal was also later revoked.
Despite the setback, she returned to competition in 2018 and jumped 2.01 metres indoors twice in early 2019 at the age of 36. She was refused clearance to compete at the 2019 World Athletics Championships.
