Alan Culpepper is an American distance runner born on September 15, 1972, in Fort Worth, Texas. Standing 186 cm tall at a lean 59 kg, he became a two-time Olympian representing the United States at the 2000 and 2004 Games while also competing on four World Championship teams.

Culpepper achieved notable success across multiple distance events. His marathon debut at the 2002 Chicago Marathon produced a time of 2:09:41, tying Alberto Salazar for the fastest ever American debut. He won the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon and finished 12th at the Athens Olympics. His track credentials include three U.S. Cross Country titles and three national track championships in the 5000 and 10000 meters, with personal bests of 13:25 and 27:33 respectively.

His versatility extended to the road racing circuit, where he finished fourth at the 2005 Boston Marathon. Culpepper's career demonstrated exceptional range from the mile, where he ran 3:55.1, to the marathon, establishing him as one of America's most well-rounded distance runners of his era.
