Ryan Hall is a retired American long-distance runner born on October 14, 1982, in Kirkland, Washington. Standing 178 cm and weighing 59 kg, he held the U.S. half marathon record from 2007 to 2025 and became the first American to break the one-hour barrier in the event.

Hall became the first American to run a sub-2:05 marathon, though this time was not eligible for record status due to the point-to-point, net-downhill course. He won the marathon at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials and placed tenth in the Olympic marathon in Beijing, representing the best American performance at that competition.

His pioneering performances in American distance running, including the half marathon record and sub-2:05 marathon, established Hall as one of the most significant American marathon runners of his generation. He now resides in Big Bear Lake, California.
