
Ryan Crouser
Ryan Crouser, born on December 18, 1992, is an American track and field athlete who specializes in the shot put. He is the only three-time Olympic gold medalist in the event, having won in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, Tokyo in 2020, and Paris in 2024. He is also a three-time outdoor World Champion and holds both the indoor and outdoor world records in the shot put.
Crouser set the outdoor world record at 23.56 metres in May 2023 and has held the indoor record of 22.82 metres since January 2021. In his early career, he set national high school records and won gold in the shot put at the 2009 World Youth Championships. At the University of Texas at Austin, he claimed four NCAA titles. He has won the USA Outdoor Championship seven times between 2016 and 2024, and four USA Indoor Championship titles.
At the World Championships, Crouser won silver in Doha in 2019, then gold in both Eugene in 2022 and Budapest in 2023, where his throw of 23.51 metres set a championship record. He has been named Track and Field News World Male Athlete of the Year and received the Jesse Owens Award from USA Track and Field. Crouser holds the rare distinction of having won a Diamond League Championship, Olympic Games, World Indoor Championship, World Outdoor Championship, and World Youth Championship.
