
Leroy Dixon
Leroy Dixon is an American sprinter born on June 20, 1983, in South Bend, Indiana. Standing 178 cm and weighing 72 kg, he specialized in the 100 metres and won a World Championship gold medal in the 4x100 metres relay.
Dixon won gold at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan, alongside Darvis Patton, Wallace Spearmon, and Tyson Gay. His personal best of 10.02 seconds in the 100 metres was achieved in June 2008 in Eugene. He qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics despite having been in a cast just four weeks before the Olympic Trials due to a fibula stress fracture. He trained under legendary coach John Smith at UCLA and was consistently ranked among America's top sprinters from 2007 to 2010.
After his competitive career, Dixon became an advocate for health awareness, serving as spokesperson for the Blink Campaign for HIV and AIDS awareness. He was honored with a street name and keys to his hometown of South Bend. Dixon has traveled to over 40 countries mentoring young athletes around the world.
